\n
\nyou have presented here a narrow and focused set of research questions. This is a good thing. I would recommend that perhaps you specify further what instructional strategies you are considering (e.g., assessment, collaborative learning, inquiry strategies, etc..). These would be specified as best-practices presented n your pro-cert program. Good work thus far.

\n * Professional Growth Plan Questions:
\n
\n
\n1) How will I use and apply instructional strategies that make the learning meaningful and show positive impact on student learning?
\n2) How will I use a variety of assessment strategies and data to monitor and improve instruction?
\n3) How will I integrate technology into instruction and assessment?","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"6684199","dateCreated":"1225824215","smartDate":"Nov 4, 2008","userCreated":{"username":"Robin27","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/Robin27","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1225310287\/Robin27-lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/jclark20.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/6684199"},"dateDigested":1532254722,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Reer review: Research questions","description":"I liked your questions and concern learning different strategies to improve teaching and learning math. The following I copied from another wiki I commented on but applies to your research also. Here it is...I know I need to keep these things shorter but sometimes a perspective can be just as valuable as critiquing the questions.
\n
\nI find your questions very interesting and my response the same as one I posted on another site so I am copying it over to you.
\nI found your questions interesting and gained a better understanding of formative assessments by looking at some of your literature. I came from old school math and have a lot of issues with the way math is taught, however, at the same time I do realize out of all subjects taught in school that math would be the biggest challenge.
\n
\nFrom a parents perspective, I was a bit disgusted with the frustrations my own children had with math throughout their primary and secondary years so find formative assessment to be of great interest. Many times I couldn't help them at all since my own foundation on math was built by coaches who spent 60% of class time talking about sports or sports illustrated math. I couldn't identify with any of these. My foundation in math is very weak and didn't need to be.
\n
\nI am still bad at math but fortunately I ended up in a math class with a good math teacher who made it understandable with his exceptional techniques.
\n
\nI cannot comment to much on your research because my feedback will come from a different perspective but I do salute all the math teachers who care enough to research, apply, and try different things for the purpose of their students. TIME is a huge factor. There is one area that might be of interest and you might look into....comparative education and what is working in other countries. There is a lot of information on education that educators share globally and why NCLB came about. Comparative education in math could be a good resource to look into.
